Manufacturer identifiers

Intel ordering codes.

These identify manufacturer ordering variants. Dell, HPE and Lenovo option and service PNs are separate identities.

System installation

Confirm the server-specific requirements.

Exact platform and BIOS
Provide the server generation, motherboard revision, installed BIOS and current processor. A matching socket alone does not establish processor support.
Cooling and power
Confirm the permitted processor power range, heatsink or liquid-cooling assembly, fan configuration and chassis restrictions for the exact system.
Single- and multi-socket configurations
Check the supported processor count and matching rules. A single-socket variant must not be substituted into a dual-socket configuration without explicit platform support.
Memory and expansion
Processor capability does not guarantee the server implements every memory speed, memory capacity or PCIe lane. Check the system population and riser requirements.

Selection notes

Check the supplied variant.

  • Confirm the exact processor model, suffix and Intel ordering code before procurement.
  • Intel processors and Intel ordering codes are separate from Dell, HPE or Lenovo upgrade-option part numbers.
  • Socket and CPU specifications do not establish compatibility with an OEM server. Check the exact system and BIOS validation.
  • Listed ordering codes do not confirm current availability. Retired/discontinued codes are retained for identification only.

Receiving & inspection

Review markings, condition and included items.

01

Exact processor markings

Request readable photographs of the actual offered processor, including its full model and manufacturer markings. Check any required production stepping or revision before substitution.

02

OEM kits and installation hardware

Specify whether you need a bare processor or the exact system-vendor kit. Confirm the carrier, heatsink, cooling components and installation items listed on the quotation.

03

Testing and shipping

Agree on the test platform and available detection or diagnostic records. Confirm protective packing, quantity, destination and delivery terms for the offered lot.

Purchasing questions

Before confirming your order.

Is this an OEM-approved replacement?

CPU specifications alone do not establish an OEM-approved replacement. Supply the original option or service PN and exact server configuration so the replacement can be checked.

Does maximum frequency apply to every core?

No. Maximum turbo or boost frequency is distinct from base or all-core frequency, and its conditions depend on the processor and system configuration.

Can the same CPU have several ordering codes?

Yes. Keep the complete code and packaging description. Related ordering variants remain attached to this CPU model; they are not counted as additional processor models.

Are engineering samples acceptable?

State your production-part requirements explicitly. Confirm exact markings and supplied condition; do not accept an engineering or qualification sample as a production replacement without your explicit approval.

PHOTOGRAPHS THAT SUPPORT YOUR RFQ

Match the part number and physical interface.

Attach a photo brief to the request for Xeon Platinum 8280. This is a checklist to agree, not a record that inspection has already been performed.

01

Label and connector views

Ask for manufacturer and OEM part numbers, front/back views and the connector or edge contacts. Capacity, interface, form factor and intended host must match the requested component.

02

Lot and condition

Record quantity, condition, firmware or hardware revision where relevant, plus representative and exception photographs. Avoid relying on one generic image for a mixed lot.

03

Protect the shipment

Request individual separation, antistatic protection and connector protection as appropriate. Show the components in trays or packing, without inventing a component-specific boot screen.

Discuss your requirements

Discuss Xeon Platinum 8280.

Send your complete CPU model or OEM part number, quantity, target system and delivery requirements.
